You don’t need a whole garden to introduce your child to the rewarding hobby of gardening. A sunny window sill will do too.
Plant something that’s hardy and will avoid disappointment. Here are a few potting projects to attempt:
Egg Carton seeds
What you will need:
- seeds
- cardboard egg cartons
- scissors
- sharp knife
- toilet paper rolls
- potting soil
- water
Here's how:
- Cut the lid from the base of the egg carton using the scissors – set the lid aside
- turn the egg carton over and using the knife, poke a small drainage hole in the bottom of each section of the egg carton
- Fill each section of the egg carton with the soil
- Drop the seeds (according to the package directions) into each section of the egg carton
- Repeat the process with all the seeds
- place the egg carton into the lid – the lid will now act as a tray
- Lightly water the seeds
- Place the egg cartons in a spot that is warm and has indirect sunlight
Growing seeds in egg shells
- Place eggshells back in carton and spray gently with water using your spray bottle.
- With a small spoon, gently scoop planting or potting soil into eggshell to fill
