Goodbye to Sweat Stains

Bid Goodbye to Sweat Stains

Sweat stains are embarrassing for many of us, and they are often the reason why we need to bid farewell to our favourite item of clothing. A common misconception about these stains are caused by sweat seeping into your clothes. In reality, it is in fact the result of a reaction between aluminium- based antiperspirants and your body. At OMO, we understand the frustration, so we’ve formulated a few handy tips that will help you get rid of these stubborn stains without ruining your clothes.

Armpit Stains on White Shirts

As summer approaches, these stains become an issue for both adults and children alike. Luckily, there is a quick fix for it! Turn the t-shirt inside out and cover the entire garment in white vinegar. Let it sit for up to an hour and then use an old toothbrush to scrub the affected areas. Finish off in a cold hand wash, hang it out in the sun to dry and voila!

Sweat Stains on Coloured Shirts

Lightly coloured work shirts and school shirts tend to bear the worst brunt, while sweat stains become noticeable when you see yellow spots appear.

The solution is to allow the garment to soak in a bowl of warm water and vinegar. Make a paste from hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and salt. Remove the shirt from the vinegar and water mix and rinse it out. Rub the paste in the affected areas and leave to soak in a warm hand wash tub using OMO Hand Washing Powder.

Preventing Armpit Stains in the Future

There aren’t many ways to prevent these from occurring, but best way to prevent armpit stains are by wearing antiperspirant deodorants and wearing sweat absorbent undershirts.
